Ordering

01There’s no cart. How do I order?

Pick a model and its options (size, wood, steel finish) and send the quote form. We reply with a price and a delivery date; once you confirm, we start making it.

02Why aren’t prices on the site?

Every piece is priced on its size, wood and finish, so a single number would be misleading. We send an itemized quote within two business days.

03How long does it take to make?

Typically 8–10 weeks for tables, 6–8 weeks for shelving, 4–6 weeks for lamps and 3–4 weeks for small objects, counted from the deposit. Your quote gives a firm date.

04How does payment work? Do you take a deposit?

Because every piece is made to order, we take a 50% deposit when you confirm and the balance before delivery. We accept credit cards, ACH bank transfer and checks.

05Can I return a made-to-order piece?

Pieces made to your size or specification are final sale. You can cancel within three business days of paying the deposit for a full refund; after that the deposit covers materials already bought and cut. Anything damaged in transit or defective is repaired or replaced — tell us within 48 hours of delivery.

Custom

01Can I change the size?

Yes. Standard sizes are a starting point; width, depth and height can follow your room. If there are structural limits, we’ll say so in the quote.

02Can you make something that isn’t in the collection?

If it’s wood and steel and close to the way we work, yes. Send a sketch, a photo or a measured drawing; we come back with a sketch and an estimate first.

Materials

01Which woods do you use?

Solid white oak, black walnut and ash. No veneer, no particleboard; tops are glued up from solid boards. Other North American hardwoods, such as cherry or maple, on request.

02What’s the difference between blackened steel and black powder coat?

Powder coat covers the steel in an even matte layer and is the toughest option. Blackening keeps the steel’s own texture, weld and mill marks visible; it’s more alive but wants an occasional wax.

03Can I see samples or visit the workshop?

Yes — the workshop in Dorchester, Boston is open for visits by appointment, Monday to Friday. If you can’t come by, we mail up to three wood and finish samples free within the US.

Delivery

01Do you ship outside the US?

In Greater Boston we deliver and set up ourselves. Elsewhere in the contiguous US pieces travel blanket-wrapped or crated with a white-glove freight carrier. Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and overseas on request. Delivery is always quoted separately.

02Does it need assembling?

Larger pieces travel knocked down; legs go on with a few bolts and the tools are in the box. In Greater Boston we assemble and install for you, and white-glove carriers can do the same elsewhere.

Trade

01Do you have a trade program for designers?

Yes. Registered design professionals get 15% off list quotes, free samples and DWG drawings for specification. Write to contact@upvotered.com with your studio details to open a trade account.

02Do you make series for cafés, restaurants or hotels?

Yes, we can make runs of the same table, shelf or light. We agree quantities, sizes and a delivery plan together, and you approve a sample piece before production starts.

Care

01How do I look after solid wood?

Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it straight away, keep hot pans off it and refresh it with hard wax oil about once a year. The full guide is in the journal.

02Is there a warranty?

Every piece carries a two-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship; we repair or replace. Normal wear, misuse and the natural movement and color change of wood are not defects.
