A wood + steel workshop

Tables, shelves and lamps in wood and steel.

Made in small batches — or to your exact size. Straight off the bench, not out of a catalog.

01 — Families

Four families, one language.

Everything grows out of the same few parts: solid wood, bent and welded steel, details finished by hand. You choose the size, the wood and the finish.

03 — Material

Two materials. One moves, one holds.

Solid wood breathes: it swells in damp weather, shrinks when it dries and changes color over the years. Steel stays put. When we join them we leave the wood room to move — slotted holes, adjustable fixings.

  1. 01

    Slim sections, solid build

A frame that would need to be chunky in wood shrinks to a few centimeters in steel. The table looks light and doesn’t wobble.

  2. 02

    Repairable

Tops can be sanded and re-oiled, steel can be recoated. Ten years on it can still be brought back.

  3. 03

    Comes apart

Legs bolt on, so moving house, narrow stairs and small lifts are not a problem.

04 — Process

How a piece gets made

Six steps from sketch to box. All in the same workshop.

  1. 01

    Sketch

The idea, the size, the room. We talk it through on paper first.

  2. 02

    Drawing

Every joint and hole is dimensioned. Nothing is cut until you sign off.

  3. 03

    Cutting

Boards are picked, acclimatized and cut; steel tube and sheet are cut to size.

  4. 04

    Welding & joinery

Steel is welded and ground; wood is glued up, flattened and sanded.

  5. 05

    Finishing

Hard wax oil for the wood; powder coat, blackening or brushing for the steel. Layer by layer, by hand.

  6. 06

    Packing

Corners protected, parts labeled, fixings in the box.

05 — Custom

Your size, our hands.

Every model in the collection is a starting point. We adapt it to your room, your team or your ceiling height.

What you can change

  • Size

Width, depth, height. Centimeter by centimeter.

  • Wood

White oak, black walnut or ash. Cherry and maple on request.

  • Steel finish

Powder coat, blackened or brushed steel.

  • Steel color

Black, signal red or any RAL color you like.

How an order works

  1. 1

    Request

Tell us the model, the size and the room. Add a sketch or a photo if you have one.

  2. 2

    Sketch & quote

Within two business days we reply with a drawing, a price and a lead time.

  3. 3

    Approval & deposit

You approve the drawing; a 50% deposit puts it in the production queue. Card, ACH or check.

  4. 4

    Making

Built in our Boston workshop: typically 3–10 weeks, depending on the piece.

  5. 5

    Delivery & assembly

We deliver and set up in Greater Boston; white-glove freight across the US. Balance due before delivery.

Typically 8–10 weeks for tables, 6–8 for shelving, 4–6 for lamps, counted from the deposit. The quote gives you a firm date.

07 — Workshop

A small workshop. A big bench.

UPVOTERED is a small team working wood and steel under one roof. The people who draw a piece also cut, weld and oil it — so we know every one of them from start to finish.

09 — Questions

In short

All questions

01There’s no cart. How do I order?

Pick a model and its options (size, wood, steel finish) and send the quote form. We reply with a price and a delivery date; once you confirm, we start making it.

02Why aren’t prices on the site?

Every piece is priced on its size, wood and finish, so a single number would be misleading. We send an itemized quote within two business days.

03Can I change the size?

Yes. Standard sizes are a starting point; width, depth and height can follow your room. If there are structural limits, we’ll say so in the quote.

04How long does it take to make?

Typically 8–10 weeks for tables, 6–8 weeks for shelving, 4–6 weeks for lamps and 3–4 weeks for small objects, counted from the deposit. Your quote gives a firm date.

05Do you ship outside the US?

In Greater Boston we deliver and set up ourselves. Elsewhere in the contiguous US pieces travel blanket-wrapped or crated with a white-glove freight carrier. Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and overseas on request. Delivery is always quoted separately.

Tell us about the piece you have in mind.

A short note is enough. Send a size, a room, or just a photo — we’ll come back with a drawing and a price.
